Changing a campus culture is not accomplished overnight; however, with sustained, intentional effort, transformation can occur. At Lewis University, the Office of Service Learning has been moving forward an institutional cultural shift - from service learning to community engaged learning and from placement to a mutually-enriching, community-based, relational orientation. This session will provide an overview of Lewis’ transition, engage participants in exploring their own institutional relationship to the community, and examine the ways in which institutions of higher education and community organizations can, together, walk the challenging and rewarding path of partnership.
